Staunton Montessori Nursery School Assessments and Reports:
Parents receive termly progress reports on their child, which are written using the six Foundation Stage categories. Please see the report pro forma for an indication of the report layout.
We also keep further records at the school detailing the child’s exact progress within the various learning areas and with the specific Montessori materials (see examples of these by following the links below).
In addition to our written reports and assessments, we also offer parents’ evenings – usually once a year. Although Staunton Montessori School has, in line with OFSTED guidance, very thorough assessment procedures, we would also like to mention that we do not ‘force-feed’ the children with literacy and numeracy. In harmony with the Montessori approach we nourish and encourage whatever interest and ability the child is showing. However, owing to the dedication and professionalism of the staff team many of the children leave with very enriched numeracy and literacy skills.
Please note since 2016 we now use Tapestry Software so each child has a secure online portal where parents can view photos, videos and staff observations related to the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). This is basically a user friendly on-line version of the paper-based file shown below, but it allows for instant access and more parental involvement.
