Here at Staunton Montessori Nursery School we take the security and safety of the children very seriously. We have 5 CCTV cameras on site which are monitored in the school office, as well as recorded onto hard drive. Although there have been no suspicious incidents that could have threatened the children we are always vigilant.
We also have an alarm system that warns of unauthorised intrusions as well as unsupervised child departures. All the doors are bolted at high level from the inside to allow exit in the case of fire but preventing children leaving the environment without supervision. The nursery school is not located in the vicinity of a main road which helps reduce any risks of road traffic injuries, which still remain the biggest cause of death in infants in the UK.
We perform a routine Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check on all staff working with the children as well as checking references and identity information.
We also conduct rigorous health and safety reviews. We have a fire risk assessment and fire response policy to protect children, staff and visitors. Our first and foremost responsibility is the safeguarding of the children in our care.
